Marie Ségolène C Braultis a Montreal-based interdisciplinary artist, writer, and independent curator. She holds a master's degree in performance art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and two bachelor's degrees
in creative writing and intermedia arts from Concordia University. Marie has exhibited work and performed in the US, Canada, and Europe in spaces such as M.Leblanc (Chicago),
No Gallery (New York),
the CUE Arts Foundation (New York), EXPO Chicago, Extase (Chicago), the Hauser & Wirth bookstore (New York), Pangée (Montreal), the Knockdown Center (New York) and more
Since 2011, Marie organized and curated a variety of cultural events under different names (The Room 22, Calliope, Espace Maurice), such as performance tours (Canada/US), evening readings, performances and exhibitions
in both conventional and unexpected venues. Her research explored hospitality practices in contemporary art, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations between emerging, established, trained, and untrained artists.
In 2021, Marie founded Espace Maurice, a gallery located in Montreal’s Centre-Sud, where she curated and directed an ambitious exhibition program until its closure. During its operation, the gallery hosted numerous local and international artists,
participated in the Plural Contemporary Art Fair, and garnered recognition in major media outlets like Le Devoir, CBC ARTS, PinUp Magazine and Elephant Magazine.
Additionally, the gallery’s exhibitions were featured on art blogs such as
Contemporary Art Daily, Art Viewer, DailyLazy, Ofluxo, Whitehot Magazine, NicheMTL, and Kuba Paris.
Through the gallery, Marie has collaborated on curatorial projects, in off-site spaces and galleries such as BABAYAGA (Hudson, NY), SARA’S (Dunkunsthalle) in New York, and Pangée (Montreal).
In 2024, Marie completed the three month Quebec-Acadie- exchange program hosted by the Gare de Matapédia, the Projet Borgitte (Cap Pelé), The GSN (Moncton) and the Fonderie Darling (Montreal).
The resulting performance work was first presented at the Matapédia train station, followed by an iteration at Vaste et Vagues (Carleton-sur-mer), the Fonderie Darling (Montreal) as well as at Western Front (Vancouver).
