Saint Dymphna (2016)
In memory of Shawn Ratte (1986-2016)


                                                                                                                                                   



Inspired by Saint Dymphna, patron saint of the mentally ill, this 10 minute performance took place for the first time in Saint Calixte, featuring Santiago Tamayo Soler and shot by Julie Roch Cuerrier.
The ritual which consisted in empaling 50 blood oranges on a steel rod and staining a linen dress with the juice of the fruit, was performed live twice, in Montreal & New York.
This work was accompanied by a limited edition artist publication entitled Requiem, published by Anteism in April 2017. In addition, a sculptural display based on this piece was shown in Montreal, QC at Eastern Bloc in May 2017.
